Roger is an emeritus faculty member of the University of Idaho after thirty-six years in the Department of Chemical Engineering at UI. He served as department chair for seventeen years and directed research in the areas of environmental remediation, fermentation technology, and alternative fuels. He contributed eighty-four publications, book chapters, and patents. He received several teaching awards including the UI Outstanding Faculty Award and fifteen Awards for Faculty Excellence. He also received three NASA Certificates of Recognition. Roger was cofounder and served as CEO of Innovative BioSystems, Inc. IBS specialized in anaerobic wastewater treatment systems and for twenty-five years produced soil bacteria with antifungal activities for use in agriculture and forestry.
Roger‘s children and grandchildren have attended the public schools in Moscow since 1981.
